Q: What is puppy kindergarten and how does this program help your puppy and you?
A: It is a basics course for all new puppies and their new pet parents. It is not just a training course. If it has been awhile since you had your first puppy come in and see what we are all about. What was correct 10 years ago is no longer correct now. Here we socialize your puppy with other dogs in a clean, safe, disinfected environment while we teach them the basic rules of life.
Q: When can my puppy start class?
A: The American Association of veterinary behaviorists recommend that all puppies can start their socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks of age. We recommend this to! They only need to be up to date on their vaccines for their age and 1 stool sample with no parasites seen before they start.
Q: We have questions and the kid at the pets store has confused us. can we ask you all of our questions?
A: Yes, ask away and we will have questions for you also. Such as: Do you have questions about training?, or do you want to continue on and do agility, Do you want to get your canine good citizen test?, How is your potty training going?. Then this is where you start. Our technicians are all skilled in dog behavior and the basics of getting a new puppy. Did you know the field of dog behavior’s knowledge base doubles every four years? If you have heard conflicting reports about what is best for your puppy then ask us during our classes. We even have a recess time to allow pet parents a break and the puppies to play.
We love this socialization part of our program because a well-informed puppy grows up to be a good doggie citizen. What do I mean by that? A lot of dogs can bite out of fear, so if we get them used to everyday people and objects now. Then they are less likely to have problems in the future. A non-scared dog is a calm dog and can react to situations appropriately.
